Dialup and TCP/IP Settings

  1. TCP/IP
    • Select My Computer, Control Panel, Network
      • If you don't have TCP/IP listed, click on Add
      • Select Protocol and click on Add
      • Select Micosoft for Manufacturer, TCP/IP for Network Protocol and click on OK
    • Select (double-click) TCP/IP - The TCP/IP Properties Screen should appear
    • Configure the these sections
      • IP ADDRESS: Obtain automatically
      • WINS CONFIGURATION: Disable WINS resolution
      • GATEWAY: Don't do anything
      • BINDINGS: Don't do anything
      • ADVANCED: Don't do anything
      • DNS CONFIGURATION: DISABLE DNS
  2. Create PCISYS Dialer
    • Select My Computer, Dialup Networking,
    • Select Make New Connection
    • Call it PCISYS
    • Select Next
    • Type in Phone Number for PCI Systems. Make sure you use the right number
    • Select Finish
  3. Configure Dialer
    • Select My Computer, Dialup Networking
    • Right click on PCI icon and select Properties to bring up General menu
    • Select Server Type Tab
    • Configure these sections:
      • Type of server: PPP
      • Log on to Network: Don't Check
      • Enable Software Compression: Check
      • Require Encrypted Password: Don't Check
      • NetBEUI: Don't Check
      • IPX/SPX Compatible: Don't Check
      • TCP/IP: Check
  4. Check Connection
    • Select My Computer, Dialup Networking
    • Double Click on the PCI icon
    • Username: type in your user name
    • Password: type in your password
    • Save Password: Check, to make dialer remember password from session to session
    • Select Connect
    • You should get a message showing status of 'dialing' and then 'connected.'
